We've come full circle. In the sixties, tennis shoes and runners were classic recreational and informal footwear. Everybody wore them. They diversified from strictly white to a host of colors so you could co-ordinate your tennis shoes with the rest of your ensemble. Running shoes were comfortable and acceptable footwear at any occasion except dress up. Then, you suffered in those dress shoes at weddings, church, funerals and graduations and in the work place just long enough to get home and back into your runners. As athletic footwear became more clinical and all-purpose nurses, hair stylists, and wait staff who spend long hours on their feet switched to athletic shoes.
Then came the era of athletic footwear specialization: specific athletic shoes for every occasion. Workout shoes, soccer shoes, basketball athletic footwear -athletic shoes designed specifically for each game became a necessity. Athletic footwear manufacturers churned out new and improved and activity-specific designs. Shoes for the athletes who run, walk, or bike. Athletic shoes were built for each specific activity.
Athletic footwear for special purpose athletics is a big business. Athletic footwear companies like Nike, Reebok and Adidas pay big bucks for athletic footwear designs for specific athletic activities.Times have changed yet again. We've returned to the all-purpose athletic shoe. Enter Reebok's ZigTech technology. Reebok designers promise that this athletic shoe creates a better workout with less danger of muscle strain. The ZigTech provides improved cushioning and less irritation during athletic activities. Consumers have given the new Reebok ZigTech athletic footwear big thumbs up. Reebok has already won awards for this innovative design. They have added new models to the ZigTech family of footwear: The KineticFit athletic can be custom fitted to each athlete's foot. The SmoothFit model has no seams that might irritate the athlete's foot. The DMXS model reduces jarring for those with knee and hip joint problems. The DMXRide gives extra cushioning and the PlayDry model was created for those outdoor activities like cross country running, golf, tennis, and soccer. The athlete's feet stay dry.
